If you have ever traveled anywhere, you will know that the airport sometimes came to feel like a sea of baggage.
Especially when you find yourself waiting at the luggage carousel at the other end of your journey.
It’s no surprise then that many of us have multiple ways of ensuring we don’t lose track of our suitcases, using different methods to make them more identifiable.

In a recent survey of Nine readers, we asked: “What are some things you do to make sure you don’t lose your luggage?”
And more than half of respondents said their favorite “trick” was tying a ribbon on their bag.
This was the most popular choice at 53 percent, followed by using a luggage strap at 30 percent.
Buying a brightly coloured suitcase was another method, with 20% of people saying this was something they did.
At the same time, 17% put stickers on their suitcase and only 16% opt for using airline tags or other electronic tracking devices.

One person even said that airlines should be more responsible for tracking baggage.
“We hope that more airlines will be able to install tracking devices on your luggage when boarding, especially for international flights,” said one respondent.

But at the same time using a ribbon While the luggage strap may seem like a good idea, one baggage handler recently warned that the suitcase tactic could actually do more harm than good.
A Dublin Airport employee has revealed that tying a ribbon on your suitcasecould actually mean your bag will miss your flight.
“The ribbons that people attach to their suitcases to identify them can cause problems when the bag is checked in the baggage hall,” he said. RSVP Live
“If the bag cannot be scanned automatically, it may end up being processed manually, which could mean your bag will not make it onto the flight.”
He also advised people to be careful to remove any old stickers on the bags, otherwise it can “cause confusion with the scanning process.”
