Motorola has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone, the Razr 50 Ultra, in India. The newcomer to Motorola’s lineup, which follows last year’s Razr 40 Ultra, boasts several impressive upgrades and aims to directly compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Flip6.

The Razr 50 Ultra features a larger 4-inch display and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. With an IPX8 rating, it promises water resistance, and its 4,000mAh battery supports both wired and wireless charging. The Razr 50 Ultra was initially launched in China and select global markets last month, alongside the more budget-friendly Razr 50 model.

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is a dual-SIM (Nano SIM + eSIM) device running Android 14. It features a 6.9-inch Full HD+ (1,080 x 2,640 pixels) LTPO pOLED internal display, with a 165Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 413 ppi pixel density. The cover display is a 4-inch LTPO pOLED (1,080 x 1,272 pixels) panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and a vegan leather covering on the back. The frame is constructed from aluminum, which adds to its premium feel.

Under the hood, the Razr 50 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. This combination ensures smooth performance and ample storage space for apps, media, and more.

The camera setup of the Razr 50 Ultra is remarkable. It includes a dual external camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor that supports optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Additionally, there is a 32-megapixel camera on the inner display. The camera system is equipped with various AI-powered tools like an action engine, automatic smile capture, and gesture capture to enhance photography and video recording.

The Razr 50 Ultra is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging. The phone ships with a 68W charger. It measures 73.99 x 171.42 x 7.09mm when open and 73.99 x 88.09 x 15.32mm when closed, and weighs 189 grams.

Connectivity-wise, the Razr 50 Ultra includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It has three microphones and offers a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication, complemented by a software-based face unlock feature. Other sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, and proximity light sensor. Its IPX8 rating ensures durability against water exposure.

Motorola Razr 50 Ultra: price and availability
In India, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra has been launched at Rs 99,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model. It comes in three colour options: Midnight Blue, Spring Green, and Peach Fuzz. The phone will be available for purchase during the Amazon Prime Day 2024 sale, scheduled from July 20 to 21, and on Motorola’s website, at leading retail stores including Reliance Digital.

Motorola is offering a discount of Rs 5,000 for first-time purchases, bringing the effective price down to Rs 94,999. Additionally, customers can avail an instant bank discount of Rs 5,000 on payments made through select bank cards. The no-cost EMI options start at Rs 5,000 per month. There are also bundle offers from Jio to make the deal sweeter.

With the launch of the Razr 50 Ultra, Motorola aims to capture the attention of consumers looking for innovative and stylish foldable smartphones, positioning itself as a serious competitor in the market.
