Candela and Polestar Collaboration on All-Electric Hydrofoil Motorboat Is Sleek, Efficient and Emission-Free

Builder of fully electric hydrofoil motor boats Candle is not the first yacht brand to collaborate on a new model with a well-known car brand. In fact, I have written many articles about car brands partnering with yacht builders in the past. But I can honestly say that I have never seen a more elegant car/yacht collaboration than the Candela C-8 Polestar Edition.

Of course, you’d expect good things to happen when two Swedish companies that specialize in designing and manufacturing the next generation of all-electric transportation team up. In fact, the Polestar C-8 Edition makes perfect sense and goes way beyond the hype. Polestar already supplies batteries and charging technology to Candela. And the Polestar C-8 Edition takes that collaboration a step further, with an interior and upholstery specifically designed for Scandinavian luxury.

A new solid grey exterior colour complemented by a lighter grey tone for the interior areas gives the C-8 Polestar Edition a sleek, uniform look that is enhanced by the use of the same marine-certified textile throughout, from the seats, cushions and loungers to the cabin wall and roof panels.

The bespoke upholstery, designed by Polestar’s design department, is inspired by sculpted seats from the automotive world and provides exceptional comfort and enhances the experience of a smooth and quiet ride on a fully electric hydrofoil boat skimming over the water.

“Candela’s hydrofoil technology is a paradigm shift in sustainable performance in the marine industry. Like the first time you drive an electric car, you immediately feel that this is the future when the boat ‘takes off’ – and now with the special gold details that we display so proudly on our cars,” says Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar.

The C-8 Polestar Edition is also fully connected and continually improved through Over-The-Air updates. When sailing on foils, Candela’s proprietary software automatically adjusts the angle of attack of the hydrofoils to keep the boat stable even in waves and wind, resulting in a noticeably smoother and quieter ride on the waves.

“We are extremely proud to be working with the brilliant teams at Polestar. We share a common goal: to move the world in a more sustainable direction. Design is an extremely powerful tool, as it can persuade people to make the right choice. With the C-8 Polestar Edition, we have the most desirable recreational boat on the market, in every way,” says Gustav Hasselskog, CEO and Founder of Candela.

Pricing for the Candela C-8 Polestar Edition starts at $450,000 and is available from Polestar.comor to Candela.com.
