Hello Strands fans. Today’s riddle was, for me, extremely tricky. Maybe it’s because I’m writing this from a train station bar, but I found myself looking for a clue after getting four answers – something that is practically unheard of.
The “Say Something” theme told me it was going to be about communication, and I assumed I would breeze through it when I saw SPEAK in the top left corner right away. SIGN to its right confirmed I was on the right track, as did SPEAK just below it.
Turning to the bottom of the board, I found TELL written backwards in the lower right corner. But with four very short words on the board, I was still no more aware of the spangram. I found myself experimenting with the “X” near the bottom—maybe it was “explain,” “explanation,” or “expose,” but none of these things were possible.
After hesitating for a moment, I finally accepted a clue. It revealed UTTER in the upper right corner, and that was enough for me to finally understand the spangram: ARTICULATION!
There were two words left to find. The dishonest “X” word belonged to EXPRESS, which was written backwards from bottom to left. That left DECLARE at the bottom right to complete the puzzle.
Well, I found this one rather tricky. I’d like to know if I was the only one in this case, or if others found it more problematic than recent Strands games too…
