AI robot concert is a half-baked hoax – Australian Associated Press

[ad_1]

AAP FACTCHECK – A lifelike robotic musician powered by artificial intelligence (AI) has reportedly given his own concert, according to posts and images shared online.

Several social media posts claim that a company called TechFusion Dynamics, which is “supposedly” working with NASA and integrating OpenAI, created the robot and organized the concert.

This is false. Both NASA And OpenAI confirmed that they had no connection with or knowledge of any such concert or project.

Although there is a company called TechFusion Dynamics in the UK as well as a Vietnamese Facebook Page of the same name, neither has anything to do with robotics or AI.

Multiple inconsistencies between the robot footage allegedly taken at the concert also reveal that the images are likely generated by AI.

Crossed out Facebook post about a robot giving a concert.
Facebook posts sharing images of the supposed singing robot have attracted attention.

A lot articles with similar captionsa few originally in Russianread: “Yesterday (June 19, 2024) a historic event took place in the Selectikonova Valley – the first concert where a robot created by TechFusion Dynamics performed.

“Crowds of spectators filled the stadium to witness this revolutionary spectacle.

“The robot, equipped with the most advanced technologies, impressed the audience with its art and voice data.”

Social media users across multiple platforms have shared the storywho then recounts that the robot sang, danced and rapped in a British accent, during a concert that included “classic rock hits and modern pop covers.”

The articles also describe it as “a good example of collaboration between tech giants OpenAI and Apple.”

AAP Fact Check I contacted several of the entities mentioned, including OpenAI, creator of the AI chatbot ChatGPT.

“OpenAI was not involved in any partnership with Apple or TechFusion Dynamics for a robot performing at a music concert…” a representative said. AAP Fact Check.

OpenAI has no knowledge of or connection to the robot in the images.

NASA also confirmed it was not involved.

The allegations appear to come from a post on a Facebook page called Techsol, a “social media agency” offering “targeted ads, chatbots for Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, smart site widgets, AI bots.”

The legend describes the concert as taking place in the “Selectikonova Valley”, but this place name does not appear on any maps.

Although the initial post presents the event as real, Techsol seems to admit that it is AI-generated in the comments section.

Facebook Comment
Techsol posted many responses in the comments below his original post.

“Yes, it’s an AI work! Modern technology never ceases to amaze us. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish reality from a computer-generated reality, isn’t it?” Techsol says in a comment.

In the developer signs of AI-generated imageryThe details of the robot change dramatically between frames.

For example, the robot’s white pants look like regular jeans in one image, but feature knee pads, logos, a missing crotch, and cut-out underwear in other versions.

Additional elements that change between images include the robot’s dreadlocks and hairline, the shape of the microphone, and the structure and degree of shine of its body.
