ALPINA has announced pricing for its updated B3 GT Sedan and Touring range, as well as its B4 GT Gran Coupe range, with the trio heading to Australian showrooms later this year, priced from $181,900 plus on-road costs.
Adding more power, revised transmission mapping and chassis tweaks mirroring those of the updated BMW 3 Series, the Alpina range offers an extra 25kW over the outgoing range, now delivering 389kW and 790Nm from its 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six petrol engine.
Transmission duties continue to be handled by a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic, which has been tuned to shave 0.2 seconds off the 0-62 mph times of the B3 GT sedans and tourings and B4 GT Gran Coupé – now 3.4, 3.5 and 3.5 seconds respectively.
Alpina said the power increase and reprogrammed transmission allow the range to achieve faster 0-200 km/h times (11.6, 12.0 and 11.9 seconds respectively) while increasing top speeds to 308 km/h.
Fuel consumption is stated at 10.5 litres per 100 km on the ADR combined cycle.
Handling is further enhanced by Alpina’s own suspension bars and a thicker rear stabilizer bar that combines with a new four-way damping setup, stiffer rear shock mounts and a sport differential. Other chassis changes are limited to those previously described for BMW’s updated 3 Series range.
Visually, the Alpina GT range is characterised by bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels, additional aerodynamic elements including a gloss black rear diffuser, aluminium gearshift paddles, black exhaust tips, an engine compartment plaque, GT sill plate lettering and headrests, as well as a model-specific steering wheel.
Otherwise, the equipment is largely reminiscent of the BMW models on which the Alpina B3 GT and B4 GT are based, including the BMW Connected Package Professional, 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, keyless entry and ignition, electrically adjustable front sports seats with heating, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
