Apple
Starting this week, Apple is introducing all-new series and movies captured in Apple Immersive Video that will launch exclusively on Apple Vision Pro. Apple Immersive Video is a remarkable storytelling format that leverages 3D video recorded in 8K with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio to transport viewers into the action.
Boundless, a new series that invites viewers to experience unique journeys wherever they are, premieres at 6 p.m. PT today, July 18, with “Hot Air Balloons.” The next episode of Wildlifethe nature documentary series that gives viewers an up-close look at some of the planet’s most charismatic creatures, premieres in August. Elevated, an aerial travel series that takes viewers through iconic vistas from dizzying heights, launches in September.
Later this year, users will be able to enjoy special performances featuring the world’s biggest artists, starting with an immersive experience from The Weeknd; Apple Immersive’s first scripted short film, Submerged, written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger; a behind-the-scenes and on-court look at the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend; and Big-Wave Surfing, the first installment of a new sports series with Red Bull.
“Apple Immersive Video is a revolutionary advancement in storytelling, bringing remarkable experiences to Apple Vision Pro users with an unprecedented sense of realism and immersion,” said Tor Myhren, Apple’s vice president of marketing communications. “Whether it’s flying over volcanoes in Hawaii, surfing massive waves in Tahiti, or seeing the world’s greatest artists and athletes perform from completely new angles, Apple Immersive Video is revolutionizing the way people experience places, stories, sports, and more by making viewers feel like they’re really there. This is the next generation of visual storytelling, and we’re excited to bring it to more people around the world.”
Without Borders
With Boundless, viewers embark on journeys they’ve always dreamed of, meeting inspiring people in extraordinary places. In “Hot Air Balloons,” viewers soar above the otherworldly landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey. In the upcoming episode, “Arctic Surfing,” coming this fall, viewers will be whisked away by a group of intrepid surfers who have set up camp in a frigid region north of the Arctic Circle in search of winter waves.
Wildlife
This August, Apple will release the second installment of Wild Life, which will take viewers to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, where orphaned elephants find a home in the care of their keepers, frolic in foamy mud baths, and form a family of their own, with their human companions and the wild elephants that roam the lands beyond. Later this year, viewers will take on a group of daring divers in the Bahamas, who come face-to-face with predators at the top of the food chain and discover creatures far more complex than often depicted.
Pupil
In the first episode of Elevated, an aerial travel series set to air in September, viewers will soar over volcanoes, climb waterfalls and discover unimagined natural wonders on the world’s longest island chain, Hawaii. In the next episode, available later this year, viewers will experience a crisp fall in New England, with a breathtaking journey along winding coastlines and over breathtakingly beautiful rivers.
Overwhelmed
Submerged, the first scripted short film captured in Apple immersive video, will premiere this fall. Set during World War II, this action-adventure story takes viewers aboard a submarine as the ship’s sailors struggle to survive a deadly torpedo attack. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger, Submerged showcases the unique storytelling capabilities that are only possible with Apple immersive video on Apple Vision Pro.
2024 NBA All-Star Weekend
This fall, basketball fans will enjoy a unique perspective on the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis with an immersive short film featuring rising stars, the Slam Dunk Contest, the first-ever NBA vs. WNBA 3-Point Challenge featuring Sabrina Ionescu and Stephen Curry, and the All-Star Game.
An immersive experience of The Weeknd
Apple Music Award-winning and seven-time diamond-certified artist The Weeknd returns to the spotlight with an immersive experience coming exclusively to Apple Vision Pro later this year.
Red Bull: Big Wave Surfing
Viewers will feel the power of the ocean like never before as elite surfers attempt to ride the world’s most powerful wave off the remote coast of Teahupo’o, Tahiti. The film is shooting this summer and will be available later this year.
