Australian art director Alexander Masson launches world's first advertising campaign for Dungeons & Dragons

Cannes may be over for 2024, but the quest for a Lion doesn’t have to be. That’s why Australian artistic director Alexander Masson has released A Lion Obsession, a D&AD&D Adventure, the world’s first adventure compatible with the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons dedicated to advertising.

The adventure offers advertising enthusiasts the chance to compete for a chance to win the Rhodium Lion. Along the way, they will face challenges inspired by our industry’s obsession with awards.

Will they be able to overcome the main creative obstacle? Does purpose still hold power at Adlandiam? Will creativity lose its soul in the face of the promise of Programatixx? And how will they manage the brand bacchanalia?

Masson (pictured below) says: “If you like creativity, Cannes and sharp monsters, combined with sword and sorcery, then this campaign is for you.

“This year, the Cannes Film Festival has focused on humor, but I think the real focus should be on play. After all, great creativity is play.”

“I also believe that gaming should be fun. That’s why I created a game that lets you play with the codes of the advertising world, while celebrating everything that makes our industry great.

“The Sydney Opera House encouraged us to play it safe. With An Obsession of Lions, I encourage you to just play.”
