BenQ Launches Two New Competitively Priced 4K Gaming Laser Projectors

The world of projectors isn’t just about movies anymore. The huge leap forward in gaming interest and game graphics quality in recent years has seen more and more gamers turn to projectors to take their immersion into their gaming worlds to a whole new level. BenQ has been at the forefront of this new gaming-focused projection market, so it’s no surprise to see the brand expand its gaming projector offering with two new models: the TK710 and TK710STi.

What’s surprising is how competitively priced these new DLP models are for the attractive specs they offer. The TK710 retails for $1,799/£1,349, while the TK710STi’s MSRP is $1,999/£1,599, although both models offer laser lighting systems, 4K playback (using DLP projection’s pixel-shifting technology) and the ability to play games or high dynamic range videos.

These headline specs are really just the beginning of what the TK710 and TK710STi have to offer. Both models are said to offer a high maximum brightness of 3,200 ANSI lumens, for example, reflecting their positioning in the BenQ lineup as “casual” gaming projectors designed to work in a living room or spare room where eliminating all ambient light can be a challenge.

In addition to HDR10 and HLG video support, HDR gaming modes are provided on both projectors to ensure that gamers with HDR-capable consoles and PCs don’t need to stick to SDR to maintain low lag levels.

In addition to helping the TK710 and TK710STi achieve their eye-catching brightness levels, their laser lighting systems essentially eliminate the need to constantly change lamps throughout the projectors’ lifespan. BenQ lists a lifespan of 20,000 hours for each of the projector’s lasers, which is enough for 10,000 two-hour movies, or (surely) to satisfy even the most hardcore Call Of Duty addiction.

As with other recent BenQ gaming projectors, the TK710 and TK710STi will both come with a few specialized gaming presets optimized for RPG and FPS game types, while input lag times on both models are rated at 16.7ms with 4K/60Hz streams, and just 4.2ms with the 1080p/240Hz streams that both projectors are impressively capable of supporting.

The main difference between BenQ’s two new gaming projectors is that, as the ST part of its name suggests, the TK710STi has a short-throw lens so that it can be placed in smaller rooms or, perhaps, closer to the screen in a regular room so that it’s not as close to your seating positions. To be more specific about this difference, where the TK710 can produce a 100-inch image at 8.4 feet from the screen and a 120-inch image at 10 feet, the TK710STi can produce a 100-inch image at 5 feet and a 120-inch image at 6 feet. The TK710STi also comes with an included Android TV dongle, to give the projector built-in streaming capabilities.

“We recognize the need for dynamic, easy-to-use and versatile projectors,” said Houston Wei, Senior Director, BenQ North America. “With the TK710 and TK710STi, gamers and movie enthusiasts can enjoy stunning visuals and fast-paced gameplay in virtually any environment.”

BenQ’s two new gaming projectors are now available on the brand’s website WE And UNITED KINGDOM websites, as well as other independent projector retailers.
