Bombay Bicycle Club postpones festival date it missed due to global IT outage

Indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club have announced the postponement of a concert at the music festival they missed due to a global computer outage.

The British band, comprising Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Suren de Saram and Ed Nash, were due to play at the Poolbar Festival in the Austrian town of Feldkirch on Friday but missed out due to a cancelled flight.

In an Instagram post on Friday evening, they said: “Unfortunately our flights to the Poolbar Festival show tonight have been cancelled due to the computer outage.

“The show will now take place this Sunday, July 21.

“This is an early morning show: doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8pm. All tickets are still valid! Combo tickets are valid today and Sunday.

“Ticket holders who are unable to attend the show on Sunday may return their tickets to any booking office. The show is sold out, but returnable tickets will be available at the box office.”

A translated message on Poolbar’s website said that tickets for the show “remain valid” for the new date and added that “ticket holders who cannot attend the show on Sunday can return their tickets to any advance booking office.”

The statement added: “The show is sold out, remaining tickets may be available at the box office.

“We apologize to all fans for this inconvenience and still look forward to a replacement Bombay Bicycle Club show on Sunday.”

Flight delays and cancellations are among disruptions expected to continue through the weekend after a faulty update rolled out by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike knocked scores of people offline around the world on Friday.

A fix has been rolled out for a bug in the update that was affecting Microsoft Windows PCs, with the chief executive of the company at the centre of the outage warning that it would take “some time” for systems to be fully restored.
