Candela Launches Polestar C-8 Electric Boat with Gold-Painted Hydrofoils

Candela begins delivery of Polestar C-8 electric boat

Swedish electric hydrofoil boat Manufacturer Candela has started shipping the first real models of its Candela C-8 The North Star edition. Owners will be able to discover the solid gray color of the C-8 Polestar Edition electric boat and its gold-painted hydrofoil. These two colors immediately catch the eye. They subtly accentuate the characteristics of the watercraft: the sleek bodywork that shimmers when the sunlight hits it and the saturated gold hue that supports the boat from below. Candela and Polestar first introduced their C-8 electric boat with gold hydrofoils in 2023.

Gold hydrofoils for the watercraft

It was around 2023 that the two mobility brands reached an agreement according to which the Car manufacturer would provide batteries and charging technology to the boat builder Polestar has created an electric hydrofoil boat. Today, the collaboration between Polestar and its fans is a success. Upon boarding the boat, passengers will find marine-certified textiles everywhere, from the seats, cushions and loungers to the wall and roof panels. Polestar adds its automotive touch through the custom seat covers for a comfortable and quiet cruise on the water.

Longer range than conventional electric outboards

Aside from the shared design and golden hydrofoils, Candela and Polestar are bringing their best assets to the C-8 electric boat. A 69 kWh battery powers the watercraft, and its charging hardware comes from the standard-range Polestar 2. These elements can help give the C-8 a range of up to 57 nautical miles on a single charge. They can also propel it to a cruising speed of 22 knots. It can achieve a high-speed range two to three times that of conventional electric outboards. The Candela C-8 Polestar Edition comes with a 75 kW electric motor. It can work in concert with the boat’s golden hydrofoils, lifting the watercraft above the surface when going fast.

The electric motor allows the Candela C-8 Polestar Edition to consume much less energy than conventional boats. When the boat is lifted, it glides smoothly and silently. It does not create large waves, thanks to the advanced computer technology implemented by Candela. The Candela C-8 Polestar electric boat with gold hydrofoils is available online in the Polestar Additionals webshop. It is sold and delivered by Candela at a starting price of EUR 400,000 per unit. Its production takes place at the Candela factory in Stockholm, Sweden, and deliveries have started.
