A neon sign reading “morning bar” marks the location of specialty coffee roaster Code Black’s seventh Melbourne location, near Supernormal on Flinders Lane in the CBD.

It’s a sophisticated new space, with touches of black, where you can get caffeine, alcohol or both, starting at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. on weekends.

Code Black's drinks menu offers coffee in a variety of forms, including cocktails.

In a hurry? There’s single-origin coffee on tap. Want to let off steam? Grab a triple flight with an espresso, latte, and drip coffee.

Need something stronger? Choose from a dedicated menu of coffee-inspired cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, including a Negroni featuring coffee-infused Campari and an Espresso Martini made with Seedlip non-alcoholic spirit and Vegemite syrup.

We Are Humble’s clever design means the space feels as much like a cocktail bar as it does a cafe, but it’s not just a place to have a drink.

The all-day dining offering further enhances CBD brunch, led by Code Black head chef Kayne Mordini.

Brunch can consist of homemade soda bread topped with smoked salmon and fennel remoulade, or mushrooms and whipped buffalo ricotta; or under a soft scramble.

Homemade soda bread is the common thread, and it comes in many forms: topped with smoked salmon and fennel remoulade, or a mixture of mushrooms and whipped buffalo ricotta; accompanied by baked eggs with truffled white beans; or under a fluffy scramble.

Open Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm; Sat-Sun 8:30am-4:30pm.
