Whoop has announced that Withings scale users can now sync their data to its app, as part of a new body composition feature in the app.
Who doesn’t love a solid collaboration around wearable technology? And it doesn’t get any better than this.
Whoop has introduced a new body composition and weight trends feature, which works by integrating with Withings smart scales.
The integration means that weight, muscle mass and body fat data from Withings scales are automatically imported into the Whoop app.
Whoop says the integration allows for instant syncing, so as soon as you take a measurement on the scale, you’ll see the data in the Whoop app.
By combining these new metrics with existing Whoop data on tension, recovery, sleep and stress, users can get a comprehensive view of their health and progress toward their goals.
This is a feature that integrates perfectly with the Whoop Strength Trainer functionality, and we’re sure anyone using Whoop for fitness will have an eye on their weight/muscles.
I’m looking forward to seeing how well Whoop can combine data with stress scores and match your fitness goals to your gains (or losses). I’ve been using Whoop extensively for a few years now, but have complained that the excellent health and wellness data isn’t backed up by fitness or weight data.
This means that while Whoop is a good coach, it isn’t connected to your end goals. And I think that limits its effectiveness. Unlike other devices, it doesn’t track VO2 Max, estimated race goals, or, so far, weight/muscle mass.
So I hope this is a step on the road to an even more insightful Whoop.
