A rather discreet Swiss brand, Delma was founded in 1924 by brothers Adolf and Albert Gilomen as A. & A. Gilomen SA in Lengnau and today operates from the same Swiss city. Following a takeover led by Ulrich Wüthrich in 1966, the company was renamed Delma Watch Ltd. This year, as expected, is a significant one for the brand, which is celebrating 100 years of continuous activity. After an unexpected tourbillon model, the brand is returning to its classic segment with an accessible and slightly retro chronometer. Discover the Delma Heritage Chronograph 100 Years Limited Edition.
While the brand is now primarily known for its high-performance, functional, and affordable dive watches (few brands can produce a dive watch that is resistant to 5,000 meters, and even fewer for less than 3,000 euros), the company also has some experience in the field of chronographs, with the first example dating back to 1946. Even today, the brand offers several chronometers in its collection, with the classic Continental Pulsometer, the robust Montego, or the Commander intended for pilots. For the brand’s 100th anniversary, Delma is offering a follow-up to a watch we first saw in 2021, the Heritage model, which was then equipped with a two-counter movement.
This new iteration retains the same case design, a classic chronograph with a slightly retro shape in stainless steel with polished surfaces and oversized pump pushers on the flank. While it pays homage to the brand’s past models in some ways, the Delma Heritage Chronograph is a modern watch with presence, measuring 43mm in diameter, 15.7mm thick and 51mm long. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the dial and a transparent case back, and is comfortably water-resistant to 100m.
The dial is where things get really interesting, with a look that’s both bold and vintage. The sun-brushed base features large luminous Arabic numerals framed by a red line, paired with luminescent syringe-style hands. The tone-on-tone counters are snailed, and given the movement’s evolution from a Sellita SW510 to a Valjoux 7750, the display has changed to a three-register 6-9-12 style with a day-date complication. The dial is completed by a black leather strap with red stitching.
Inside the case is the most classic of chronograph movements, the ETA Valjoux 7750, here with custom rotor, Geneva stripes, circular graining and blued screws. It operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a power reserve of up to 48 hours. The chronograph features a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter.
The elegant Delma Heritage 100 Years Limited Edition Chronograph will be produced in just 100 pieces and is now available. Its price is CHF 2,550 Or 2,900 eurosFor more details, please visit www.delmawatches.com.
