Surprisingly, 41% of respondents feel their text messages are “naked” without emoji. This sentiment is particularly strong among Gen Z, with 70% of them believing emojis are essential in text messages, compared to 46% of Gen X.
Context matters, though. According to 32% of survey respondents, a single emoji can sometimes end a conversation.
This study, conducted by Speaker Research with 2,000 Americans, was released just before World Emoji Day on July 17.

When it comes to the types of emojis we use, 58% prefer happy emojis like laughing or smiling faces, while 15% prefer sweet emojis like hearts and kisses. Interestingly, 38% of people dream of inventing their own emoji!
