Echoes Of Wisdom Note Confirms Link Will Be Playable

While it’s clear that Zelda is the real star of the upcoming game in the series bearing her name, The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, many have wondered whether we’ll still get to take control of regular protagonist Link – especially after the teaser/diversion right at the start of the game’s first trailer.

Now, thanks to a description of the game published via the American video game rating board, the ESRB, we know that Link will in fact, it will be playable at least to some extent in the next game.

The note, as shared below by popular X account Wario64, describes combat situations with both characters, stating in part: “As Link, players use a sword and arrows to defeat enemies,” suggesting a fairly standard gameplay style for a top-down Zelda title. It’ll be interesting to see where and how Link is introduced in the game, as so far the story has been sold as Zelda’s journey to save our regular hero – whether he appears in some sort of fake opening, has his own gameplay vignettes that run parallel to the main mission, or something entirely different.

The full ESRB rating is:

“This is an adventure game in which players take on the role of Zelda as she attempts to clear the rifts across Hyrule and save Link. From a 3/4 perspective, players explore various environments while battling stylized enemies (e.g., humans, creatures). As Link, players use a sword and arrows to defeat enemies; Zelda can use a magic wand to summon creatures (e.g., mechanical knights, pig soldiers, mud) for battle. Some enemies can be defeated by being set on fire; other creatures dissolve into mist when defeated. Combat sequences are somewhat frenetic, with multiple enemies attacking/fighting at once.”

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will launch on DATE exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Amazon is currently offering the best pre-order price at $68 with free release-day shipping for Prime members.
