Final Fantasy 14’s New Raid Has a Pop Anthem Players Can’t Stop Listening To

Forget Brat SummerIt’s time to move on to summer “Bee My Honey.” The pop song that serves as the background music for one of Final Fantasy 14’s new raids is a real treat for the ears that I and many other players can’t stop listening to. To top it all off, the song is sung by the adorable Honey B. Lovely, the latest Dawntrail expansion character to earn the community’s undying affection.

Arcadion, which released its first four-battle tier with Patch 7.01 on July 16, is Dawntrail’s eight-player raid series. Continuing the mostly fun vibe of the expansion, the raid pits the Warrior of Light in an anime-style tournament where they face increasingly tough and eccentric enemies. The second opponent you face is Honey B. Lovely. As her name suggests, she’s a bee-themed boss, dressed head to toe in yellow and black. The stage you fight her on is also filled with neon pinks, purples, and bright yellows. In fact, it’s essentially a concert stage, with adoring Honey B. Lovely fans sitting in the audience. Once the raid itself begins, it’s a frenetic fight, and a surprisingly upbeat pop song begins playing, “Bee My Honey.”

Final Fantasy 14 is no stranger to incredible music. Composer Masayoshi Soken has created many iconic songs for the expansions, ranging from lyrical ballads to rock anthems and everything in between, but the pop delight of “Bee My Honey” might just top them all thanks to its incredibly catchy lyrics. From the song’s almost vocaloid intro, you can tell this song is going to be a hit.

Honey B. Lovely delivers a fantastic comedic performance, alternating between the role of a pop idol and an admirer of her fans, all the while reminding you, her opponent, that if you don’t succumb to her, “you’re as good as dead.” Even though the Warrior of Light ultimately manages to defeat Honey B. Lovely, the idol has won the hearts of countless new fans in the community.

The awesome thing about “Bee My Honey” is that as a raid song that you have to listen to on repeat while fighting for gear, it never seems to get old. In fact, it only gets better with each listen. I’ve been listening to it on repeat as I write this article, it’s awesome! The community seems to agree, with many sharing the sentiment that the weekly reward reset is a welcome event because it gives them a reason to go back to the Arcadion and listen to “Bee My Honey” while fighting Honey B. Lovely. It’s especially funny because any raid drama that happens after the Honey B. Lovely fight will always happen with this earworm playing in the background.

Now we just have to wait for the official Dawntrail soundtrack to come out so I can put “Bee My Honey” on repeat instead of restarting a YouTube video every time the song ends.
