As players patiently await the arrival of Starry Studio’s post-apocalyptic shooter Once Human, some have wasted no time in expressing their displeasure with the developers, particularly regarding their decision to omit the game’s OCE servers. While the game’s pre-release phase went off without a hitch, some in the community are already planning to skip it altogether due to this issue (unless the development team can fix it immediately, of course).
For those unaware, OCE refers to the Oceanic servers, which are for players in Australia and New Zealand. Without the OCE servers, players in Australia and New Zealand would struggle to play Once Human, as they virtually guarantee high ping/latency, making the game unplayable. Naturally, several players have since brought this issue to Starry Studio’s attention by creating an official request via the game’s Discord server.
The request, created by user Nezza, argues that adding OCE servers would “greatly improve the gaming experience” as it would eliminate the issues commonly associated with playing in different regions. They also claimed that “the current situation is not ideal as poor ping ruins games and affects the player base.” The request has since received support from many other concerned users, with the post having 74 upvotes at the time of writing.
Unfortunately, Starry Studio has yet to respond to this latest request, so it’s unclear whether OCE servers will eventually make it to Once Human. However, with complaints continuing to rise, this is likely an issue the developers will look to address sooner rather than later. We’ll also continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available, so stay tuned.
