Google has officially confirmed the existence of the Pixel 9 Pro smartphone ahead of its August release Live event hosted by Google. This follows a leak earlier this week in which Images and videos from the phone began to appear everywhere.
The company confirmed the smartphone via a announcement videoa model that could have waited until August 13th. The video isn’t very detailed, but it does include footage of the phone in action that confirms a major suspicion about the Pixel 9 Pro. The absolutely gigantic camera bump is real and is ready to make obvious fingerprints in pockets everywhere.
Look at this glorious thing. The bump looks like a 3D approximation of Bender Futurama head. One thing is for sure. If you buy the Pixel 9 Pro later this year, make sure to buy a newly designed case as well. There’s no way previous cases will fit this monstrosity.
Beyond the camera, Google’s video hints at deep integration with the company’s Gemini family of AI models. The affiliate marketing text simply says “oh hi, AI,” and the video shows a chatbot responding to a query. This emphasis on AI should come as absolutely no surprise. It’s 2024.
You can register to get information about the phone directly from GoogleWhile we don’t have any actual specs, it’s likely that huge bump is there for a reason (a really good camera system).
There have been other leaks ahead of next month’s event, but this is the only one that has been proven to be authentic. These leaks, however, indicate that the Pixel Pro 9 will be joined by The garden-variety Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and a foldable model called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. As always, we’ll be there on August 13 to bring you what Google is announcing.
