Intel processor instability now reported in laptops – channelnews

Reports of Intel processor instability are increasing. Back in February, stability issues were reported among Intel’s high-end Raptor Lake desktop processors. Users reported that processors such as the Core i9-13900K and Core i9-14900K were experiencing shader compilation issues during certain games.

New reports are coming in about issues with laptops powered by Intel processors. Matthew Cassells, founder of Path of Titans developer Alderon Games, is an influential voice in the industry and has reported that Intel’s 13th and 14th generation Raptor Lake laptop processors are also prone to instability and crashes.

He did, however, acknowledge that the issues were occurring less frequently than with their K-series desktop counterparts. “Yes, we have several laptops that have failed with the same crashes. It’s just slightly rarer than desktop CPU failures,” the developer said on Reddit.

Cassells did not specify which models of Intel’s 13th and 14th generation mobile processors are reporting these issues. However, Digital trends speculated that Intel’s flagship HX-series processors were likely the ones with the issues.

The founder of Alderon Games has already recently taken aim at Intel processors. News channel Last week, Cassells wrote about Intel’s processor issues in a blog titled “Intel Selling Defective 13th and 14th Gen Processors.”

Alderon Games has announced that it will be replacing its 13th and 14th generation Intel servers with AMD. Cassells noted that Alderon has recorded “thousands of crashes” on gamers’ CPUs using its crash reporting tools and said that the CPUs can also corrupt SSDs and memory. He added that in his team’s experience, 100% of the affected CPUs “degrade over time, eventually failing.”

Digital trends It has been reported that among users reporting issues with their Intel processors, the company is honoring returns for some of them.
