Modern Warfare 3 is coming to Xbox Game Pass

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” will be available on Xbox Game Pass starting Wednesday, just ahead of the launch of Season 5 of the first-person shooter.

The game’s arrival on Game Pass comes after Xbox raised the price of its Game Pass subscriptions and limited content availability by tier. Among those changes, “Modern Warefare III” will only be available to customers who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (the most expensive tier at $19.99 per month), Game Pass PC ($11.99), and Xbox Game Pass for Console (now retired for new users), and not to those who subscribe to the “Core” tier ($69.99 per year).

Originally released in November 2023, “Modern Warfare III” is developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision. It was previously only available as a standalone purchase and not as part of Xbox’s subscription gaming offering.

“Modern Warfare III” is the 20th game in the “Call of Duty” franchise and the third in the “Modern Warfare” reboot sub-series.

According to Activision’s description of the game, “Set immediately after the events of Modern Warfare II, Captain Price, Ghost, and the rest of Task Force 141 continue the hunt for ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, taking them across the globe in this gripping single-player campaign. I won’t spoil it for you, but the events that unfold will have lasting consequences for the Modern Warfare universe.”

The Season 5 downloadable content (DLC) release for “Modern Warfare III” will include: two new Core 6v6 maps, new modes, the final Zombies story mission, the debut of Superstore in Urzikstan, WWE stars as Operators, and new content for “Warzone Mobile”, Season 5 brings an all-new Battle Pass, BlackCell Offering and Store Packs.

“Modern Warfare III” is coming to Game Pass ahead of the October 25 release of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” which will be available at launch to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Other features limited to that tier include EA Play, cloud gaming across multiple devices, and free monthly “perks” from Microsoft.
