Netflix to disappear from dozens of TV models in Australia within a week

Netflix is set to disappear from dozens of Sony TV models next week, all of which are more than a decade old.

The streaming service will also disappear from a number of Apple TV devices.

The change for Sony TVs will take effect from July 24 and will affect 37 Sony BRAVIA TV models in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia.

“The Netflix app will no longer be supported on select 2014 BRAVIA TVs starting July 24, 2024,” Sony said in May.

The app will continue to work until that date, Sony said.

However, Netflix can still be streamed on affected models using a supported TV streaming device, such as Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV Stick.

While Apple TV streaming devices can currently be used to stream Netflix, starting next month, not all models of the device will be able to do so.

Starting July 31, Netflix will no longer be available on second- and third-generation Apple TV devices.

Customers should contact Netflix for further information.
