Netflix will disappear from several TV models in a few days

Netflix subscribers with certain Sony TV models and Apple TV devices only have a matter of days before the streaming service disappears from their screens.

Netflix has made $2.3 billion in profit since introducing its one-household policy. The on-demand streaming service introduced the policy last year to prevent users from extending access to their account to multiple households and sharing it with friends and family without paying for their own account. “In March 2023, they had 233 million subscribers worldwide,” Mr Greenwood said. “Now they have many more.” “Netflix’s profit jumped 89% to $2.3 billion because of that. “The idea that Netflix was never, ever going to make a dollar from this; well, that’s gone by the wayside, they’re making a lot of money now.”

In May, Sony announced that the app would be removed from 37 Sony BRAVIA TV models in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, starting next week.

“The Netflix app will no longer be supported on select 2014 BRAVIA TVs starting July 24, 2024,” the company said in a statement.

“You can continue to use the Netflix app on your TV until July 23, 2024.”

However, people with affected TV models can still enjoy the streaming service using a supported TV streaming device such as Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Although Sony TV models are primarily affected, some Apple TV models will also be affected.

Some models of Apple TV streaming devices will no longer be able to stream Netflix next month.

The app will not work on second and third generation Apple TV devices starting July 31.

Outraged Netflix subscribers have taken to X to vent their frustrations over a recent message on their TVs informing them of the popular streaming app’s impending change.

“I am so annoyed! Tonight I got a message from @NetflixUK saying the app will stop working after 24th July on my perfectly working Sony TV. There’s even a Netflix button on the remote!” one person said.

Affected customers have been advised to contact Netflix for further information.
