No Man’s Sky PS5 Pro Enhancements Appear To Have Been Discovered

It’s been a while since we’ve heard many ‘PS5 Pro’ rumors, but thanks to data miners plumbing the depths of a recent No Man’s Sky update that added a number of big graphical improvements and features to the game, one of our first glimpses of a potential PS5 Pro update to a game has been discovered.

The discovery comes from game developer and modder, ThisBomberBoion X, which posted screenshots comparing the built-in graphics and performance presets for No Man’s Sky on the standard PS5 against a new list of settings included in the update, dubbed “Trinity,” which is widely believed to be the codename for the PS5 Pro.

Of note in the comparisons between the PS5’s standard graphics settings and the ‘Trinity’ versions is a slight increase in the dynamic resolution scaling factor – meaning the base rendering resolution scaled to achieve 4K output is higher and should result in a cleaner overall image – as well as some select graphics detail settings being bumped up a level, such as ‘Water Quality’ going from High to Ultra.

The differences aren’t huge, and at least based on the data collected and the upcoming changes, they probably won’t result in a noticeable improvement for the average gamer. If these specs hold up, it’s unlikely that No Man’s Sky will aim for the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge, and that the Hello Games team will instead take the opportunity to slightly improve performance and visuals with the incoming hardware.

More than anything, these details are exciting simply because this is the first real example of a game benefiting from PS5 Pro enhancements that we’ve seen in the wild – and even before PlayStation has officially acknowledged or announced the existence of the upgraded console.

Given that we know that No Man’s Sky’s latest update also borrows tech from Hello Games’ next big project, Light No Fire, including its aquatic tech, we can also probably assume that the new game’s tech is designed with the PS5 Pro in mind.
