ForbesNYT “Connections” Clues and Answers for Friday, July 5

Welcome everyone for this weekend! I hope you have a great weekend. I’m looking forward to spending some more time with my friends and family, and I don’t mind what we do as long as it’s together.

Today The New York Times Connections clues and answers come right away.

How to play Connections

In ConnectionsYou are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort them into four groups of four by determining the connections between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb, or rappers.

There is only one solution for each puzzle, and you will need to watch out for words that might belong to multiple categories. You can mix the words together to perhaps help you see the connections between them.

Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to deduce. The purple group often involves wordplay, so keep that in mind.

Select four words that you think go together and hit Submit. If you make a guess and get it wrong, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to getting a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you only have one word left to guess, but you’ll still have to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with a few tips, and if you’re really struggling, Connections answers.

  • Purple group — label ____ (DOG, FREEZE, PHONE, PRICE)

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a perfect game today, but my current winning streak has reached five games.

My first guess was completely wrong. It was simply based on the fact that there were double letters in the middle of each word: FREEZE, RATTLE, BOTTLE, and SPOONS. I didn’t see anything that matched PHONE, MOBILE, and CELL either, so I looked elsewhere.

WASHBOARD was my entry point into the blues, which I got on the first try despite RATTLE being a red herring. The yellows were next, followed by the greens. I didn’t understand what connected the purple group until I submitted those words, but hey, I didn’t have to.

That’s all there is to say for today. Connections clues and answers. Don’t forget to check my blog for clues and the solution to Sunday’s game if you need it.
