Looking for clues and answers for Tuesday Connections? You can find them here:
It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means: time for another game of Connections!
Today The New York Times Connections clues and answers come right away.
How to play Connections
In ConnectionsYou are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort them into four groups of four by determining the connections between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb, or rappers.
There is only one solution for each puzzle, and you will need to watch out for words that might belong to multiple categories. You can mix the words together to perhaps help you see the connections between them.
Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to deduce. The purple group often involves wordplay, so keep that in mind.
Select four words that you think go together and hit Submit. If you make a guess and get it wrong, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to getting a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you only have one word left to guess, but you’ll still have to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with a few tips, and if you’re really struggling, Connections answers.

Today Connections the answers are…
- Yellow group — buildings around the city (BANK, LAUNDRY, POST OFFICE, SUPERMARKET)
- Green Group — hinder (COUNTER, LIMIT, HINDER, INHIBIT)
- Blue group — names of animal groups (PACK, PRIDE, SCHOOL, SWARM)
- Purple group — names of US presidents (BIDE, CART, NIX, WASHINGTON)
No perfect game today, but I’m on 10 wins in a row.
The yellow group was pretty obvious, other than the fact that there were five possibilities for the group. However, PRIDE and SWARM made it clear that SCHOOL was the exception. Blue and yellow = sorted.
The greens gave me some trouble. I had HAMPER, INHIBIT and CURB but the fourth word wasn’t immediately clear. I guessed NIX and BIDE before getting the right answer. That left the purple group, for which I didn’t understand the connection, for the win.
That’s all there is to say for today. Connections clues and answers. Don’t forget to check my blog for clues and the solution to Thursday’s game if you need it.
PS Since SCHOOL is one of the words of the day, let’s go with this song by Rival Schools that I love deeply. That second verse hit me uncomfortably for a while, but I’m in a better place now, thankfully.
