The first of your two Connections puzzles this weekend is not Also difficult. As always, the NYT threw out a few red herrings, and the purple group is still tough, but there’s nothing out of the ordinary here.
What to do once you’re done? Of course, play other word games. I also have Wordle daily cheats and answers, Strands cheats and answers, and Quordle cheats and answers articles if you need help with those too.

NYT Connections Today (Game #391) – Answers
The answers to today’s Connections game, #391, are…
- YELLOW: BIOLOGICAL BUILDING ELEMENTS ATOM, CELL, MOLECULE, PROTEIN
- GREEN: SHOPPING FOR A BABY BOTTLE, CRIB, MOBILE, RATTLE
- BLUE: OBJECTS PLAYED AS INSTRUMENTS JUG, SAW, SPOONS, WASHBOARD
- PURPLE: ___ LABEL DOG, GEL, PHONE, PRICE
- My ranking: Easy
- My score: 1 error
I have a question: what is a FREEZE TAG? Actually, I have a second one: what is a PHONE TAG? Is this a reference to Apple’s AirTags? I’m stumped.
But hey, it doesn’t matter because they were part of the purple group, and by the time I got to that one, I had already solved the other three. Plus ça change.
Yellow was particularly easy today, with things like ATOM and MOLECULE immediately standing out. I solved blue next, although I made a mistake, playing BOTTLE instead of JUG as the OBJECT PLAYED AS AN INSTRUMENT. Technically, I wasn’t wrong – you can play a bottle, after all. But it wasn’t correct this time. CRADLE, MOBILE, BOTTLE, RATTLE for “baby purchases” was also pretty easy, meaning the purple group and those confusing tags were solved by default.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of the many increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is a bit harder, blue is often quite hard, and purple is usually very hard.
The good thing is that you don’t need to solve the last problem, because you can answer it by process of elimination. Plus, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you some wiggle room.
It’s a bit more complex than Wordle, though, and the game can trick you a lot. For example, watch out for homophones and other wordplay that might obscure the answers.
It is playable for free via the NYT Games Site on computer or mobile.
