Hello friends! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, whether it is going out and doing things, relaxing at home, or
Today’s NYT Strands hints, spangrams and answers coming soon.
How to play Strands
The New York Times’ Strands The puzzle is a classic word game. It is not available in the NYT Games app alongside Wordle And Connections (which we also cover in the daily guides on Forbes Games).
There is a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a grid of six by eight letters. The goal is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you will get a clue on this theme. When you find a theme word, it remains highlighted in blue.
You will also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram connects at least two sides of the board, but it cannot start or end there. Although the theme words are not a proper noun, the spangram can be a proper noun. When you find the spangram, it remains highlighted in yellow.
Each letter is used once in one of the thematic words and one of the spangrams. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, and it is possible to change direction in the middle of a word. If you are playing on a touch screen, double-tap the last letter to submit your guess.
If you find three valid words of at least four letters that are not part of the theme, you will unlock the Hint button. Clicking on it will highlight the letters that make up one of the words in the theme.
Warning: you will have to be on your guard. Sometimes you will have to fill in the missing word(s) in a sentence. Other days, the game may revolve around synonyms or homophones. The difficulty will vary from day to day and the puzzle creators will sometimes try to surprise you.

The rest of today Strands the theme words are…
- PEAT
- HAPPY
- NEIGH
- FILL
- GAME
- RUSTLING
- HAIRY
- ATOM
This is what the completed grid looks like…
I didn’t have much to say here, so I unlocked a clue for PEAT in the top left. That didn’t help much, so I unlocked a second one to give me the letters for FILL. So I figured they would be homonyms for the first names at this point (Pete and Fill). I spotted GALE (Gail) on the right to confirm my suspicions.
That’s when I found the spangram, which blocked the letters for HAIRY (Harry) and MERRY (Mary) on the right. Then I saw RUSTLE (Russel) on the left, which left the letters for WHINNY (Winnie) and ATOM (Tom, I guess?).
I used two clues and spangram was the fourth thematic word I found.
That’s all there is to say for today. Strands clues and answers. Don’t forget to check my blog for clues and the solution to Monday’s game if you need it.
PS: Just because it was the theme of the day, this song is now stuck in my head. A classic.
