Prima PMI, Australia’s largest print-on-demand provider, has doubled its roll-to-roll display printing capacity with the installation of a fleet of new Epson SureColor printers.
The fleet of new Epson printers consists of the SureColor S60660L and SureColor T7760DL models, the decision to invest in Epson comes after an in-depth analysis of the printing solutions on the market by Prima PMI.
The doubling of Prima PMI’s capacity is due to the modified number of printers from its previous fleet, now retired, and the increased productivity of the new Epson.
Amnon Judah, Managing Director of Prima PMI, said: “The growth in printed square meters is due to local and international clients finding new channels to sell content. This significant investment doubles the printing capacity of the combined entities to meet the growing demands of our clients.”
Judah said: “I am delighted to partner with Epson. Epson’s PrecisionCore printheads are a marvel of engineering. They can print with exceptional quality and at high speeds throughout their five-year lifecycle. The technology is mature and extremely reliable, which is what we need for our 24/7 operation.”
A thorough analysis process began with a call for tenders from several manufacturers, who were asked to provide equipment that could match or exceed the quality of Prima PMI’s existing fleet. The choice of devices was entirely at the discretion of the manufacturers, with printers being put in competition with each other in a due diligence process that considered quality, durability, cost, consumables, speed, capital and total cost of ownership. Five distributors were invited to participate in the tender to meet the demands for consumables and support. Judah said: “After a peer review with our sister facilities, we decided to invest in Epson with a number of SureColor S60660L and SureColor T7760DL deployed.”
Romano Bacci, Business Manager – Professional Print Solutions at Epson, said: “We are delighted that newly expanded Prima PMI has chosen Epson for the renewal of its fleet. Prima PMI is an expert in its field and continues to build a reputation for quality and customer service.
“The Epson SureColor S and T Series deliver exceptional print quality, economical running costs and world-class support. We are confident that the solution chosen by Prima PMI will support our future growth and we look forward to working closely with the company in the years to come.”
Prima PMI is part of the global District Photo and Harrier group, but this investment was a local decision. “We always look at our technology choices within the group and compare them to previous or alternative infrastructure purchases made for similar use cases in other regions,” Amnon said.
