ROG Ally X Australian pricing and pre-orders are out, here’s where you can buy the Steam Deck alternative

ASUS’ (slightly) upgraded ROG Ally X laptop is coming later this month – and if you’re eager to get your hands on the next iteration of this Steam Deck alternative, here’s where you can grab an Australian or New Zealand pre-order ahead of launch.

The ROG Ally X will feature only a few improvements over the original, with expanded storage, increased RAM, and a new 80Wh battery that could address some of the poor battery life issues users of the original had (among other tweaks and improvements). There are also changes to the joysticks for better ergonomics and “more precise control,” and dual USB-C ports – perhaps one of our favorite new features that were sorely missing from the original ROG Ally.

Here’s what you need to know right now:

When will the ASUS ROG Ally X be available in Australia?

If you’re in the market for a new handheld and the ROG Ally X seems like the right fit for you, you’ll be able to get your hands on one starting July 22, 2024.

How much does the ASUS ROG Ally X cost in Australia?

The ROG Ally X will set you back $1,599 ($1,799 in New Zealand). That’s around $300 more than the original handheld console, which currently costs $1,299 at most retailers – although we’ll likely see a whole bunch of discounts once its cooler little brother hits the market.

Where can I pre-order an ASUS ROG Ally X in Australia?

Official Australian retailers for the ROG Ally X are JB Hi-Fi and ASUS. Official New Zealand retailers are JB Hi-Fi NZ and PB Tech. Pre-orders are already open ahead of the portable console’s launch.
