Gaming advertising platform iion has appointed Rupert Pay as head of advertiser sales for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
Sydney-based Pay has held senior leadership roles in Asia Pacific at Blis and Bonzai and was instrumental in developing the mobile channel at InMobi.
Yun Yip, CCO of iion, said Pay’s extensive digital media expertise and innovative thinking will be critical as the company elevates in-game advertising to an immersive and essential digital experience for brands.
“We are confident that Rupert’s arrival will further strengthen our ability to deliver tangible results to brands and agencies, connecting them to the region’s gaming audiences in innovative and impactful ways,” she said.
Pay said the huge audience numbers in video games are undeniable, so closing the gap between those numbers and the current relatively low ad spend is a question of when, not if.
“iion can add significant value to our brand and agency partners by helping them understand how gaming fits into an omnichannel view of their audience and broader media mix, while providing them with an easier path to adoption,” he said.
