The best Kindle Prime Day deals on Amazon e-readers

E-readers make it easy to carry an entire library of books with you, and E Ink displays tend to be easier on the eyes than a tablet’s LED screen. Amazon Kindles are by far the most popular e-readers on the market, but they don’t go on sale very often. Now that Amazon’s Prime Day sale (which happens twice a year) arrivedWe’re seeing discounts on nearly every Kindle the company makes. While new Kindles may be on the horizon, any Kindle you buy today should give you years of reliable use (the company promises at least four years software updates).

As with all of Engadget’s tech deals, we only highlight discounts on gear we’ve tested or used and know is worth your money. We’ve cross-referenced our e-reader/E Ink guides and Kindle reviews with Amazon’s Prime Day deals to come up with what you see here. And we’ll be updating these deal roundups throughout the two days of Amazon Prime Day Sale.

OUR favorite The budget e-reader is Amazon Kindle Standard and, thanks to Prime Day, its list price has dropped from $100 to $85. The lowest price we’ve previously recorded was $65 for the Prime event last July.

The 2022 generation is the most recent version of the base model and it comes with 16GB of storage, which should be enough for thousands of books. The battery lasts for weeks and provides access to Amazon’s Kindle library as well as free e-books from your local library.

THE Amazon Kindle Paperwhite The 2018 Kindle adds a few features to the base Kindle model, namely an adjustable warm light, a larger 6.8-inch screen, and an IPX8 waterproof rating. Right now, it’s down to $135 for Prime Day, down from $150 MSRP. It dropped as low as $95 last Prime Day.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature received high praise in our review When it released in 2021, the price was slashed from $190 to $180 for Prime Day. Like the Paperwhite, this 6.8-inch e-reader is waterproof and has a warm front light. The Signature Edition adds wireless charging, an auto-adjusting light, and more storage at 32GB. We especially liked the thin bezels, responsive display, and premium feel.

THE Kindle Scribe is now discounted to $235 for Prime Day. It usually sells for $340 for the 16GB size with the Basic stylus. This is the only Kindle that supports a stylus, and it’s our best choice for an E-Ink tablet and e-reader combo.

When the player came out in 2022, we gave it a score of 85We like the near-nonexistent pen latency, spacious 10-inch display, and premium build.
