Warner Bros. Games has officially acquired Player First Games, the developer of its moderately successful free-to-play platform combat game, MultiVersus.
According to official statements, the studio’s co-founders, Tony Huynh and Chris White, will continue to lead the studio.
“Our team is thrilled to be joining the Warner Bros. Games family, and we believe this will be a great fit for MultiVersus as a whole,” Huynh said in a press release. “We are committed to making the MultiVersus gaming experience the best it can be, and the integration of our development team with the publisher is optimal for players.”
David Haddad, President of WB Games, added: “We have worked with Player First Games for several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The brilliant and creative team at Player First Games strengthens our extensive development capabilities.”
The game enters its second season this week, after its full release a few months ago, and will bring with it new characters like Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice.
MultiVersus Season 2 will also introduce the game’s Ranked mode, which will allow players to compete in 1v1 or 2v2 matches with leaderboards and a new stream of points with which to unlock new, exclusive cosmetics based on rank, including Gold, Diamond, and Master skins. And in even more exciting news, the iconic Warner Brothers Water Tower is finally coming to the party as a stage in Season 2, and it’s definitely looking pretty snazzy based on this reveal image from the MultiVersus Official Account:
In his first impressions of the second coming of MultiVersus, James wrote: “There is great potential to continually expand the roster with a diverse and eclectic cast of characters from a wide range of properties spanning a literal century. The sky It feels really good as the limit, but with this relaunch, MultiVersus does a good job of convincing me that they could achieve it.
