We take a look at Ross Edgley’s 41,000-calorie tiger shark diet

Preparing to swim with sharks may sound like elaborate gear and apparatus, but author and swimmer Ross Edgley prepared with a diet full English breakfasts and seven litres of custard, among other things high calorie meals.

In his new documentary, “Shark Vs. Ross Edgley,” Edgley Edgley is racing against sharks. It’s not about competing with them, but about fighting them, he told the MailOnline, but it’s their diet that interests him.

Young “It’s quite trendy now, but I think we humans could learn a lot from sharks’ primitive fasting and feasting,” Edgley says.

To fully deplete his energy stores, Edgley fasted for 24 hours before spending 16 hours in a hot chamber at Loughborough University to speed up the process. This method was used to dehydrate the body and deprive it of electrolytes. Fasted training in a sports science setting can also be used to deplete muscle glycogen (carbohydrate) stores, making them readily available to store glycogen again, once food is consumed.

“You can’t sleep because you’re so hungry and your body starts cramping because you’re so depleted of water and electrolytes,” he shared.

“Tiger sharks will migrate thousands of miles without food “But when he finds a whale carcass or a turtle shell, he’s capable of gorging himself,” Edgley explains. And gorging himself is what Edgley… and former MH cover star – consumed 41,000 calories of meals high in fat and carbohydrates.

And the result? In just 24 hours, Edgley gained 10 kg.

“It was all scientific and systematic, so we immediately had to replenish water and electrolytes,” Edgley says. “Then we had to add vitamins and minerals, so we made a ‘Hulk smoothie’ with greens, double cream and ice,”

After this feast of super-appetizing food, with its high sugar and salt content, he explained that his “taste buds went to a very strange place.”

“I was dehydrated,” Edgley said, “but I also needed caloriesSo custard seemed like the logical choice, and I only wasted seven litres of it. My favourite was to take a 12-inch baguette and wrap it in a pizza like a calzone, it was incredible.’

Edgley worked with tiger shark expert Dr. Mike Heithaus. They calculated how many calories a tiger shark could consume in a single bite. According to their calculations, it could consume up to 20,000 calories. “I thought I did well with 40,000 calories, and it turns out the tiger shark would have beaten that number in two bites,” Edgley says.
