The unique and viral Xbox controller inspired by the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie has been making headlines for days. On one hand, gamers have noticed how exactly it fits Deadpool’s character. On the other, some have wished that the controller wasn’t part of a social media contest and was instead available for purchase. And, of course, there are people seriously trying to win this damn controller via the contest’s official rules.

Anyway, it got a lot of buzz. And now it looks like this topic isn’t going away anytime soon because it turns out that the butts that form the back of the controller aren’t actually permanently molded onto it.

As part of a deeper look at the movie’s exclusive merchandise, a reporter explained how the viral controller ultimately works. Those big butts adorning the back of the controller are removable. It’s simply a magnetic attachment to the back of what is actually a custom red Xbox controller.

Of course, despite calls to the contrary, this was likely going to be the final scenario. After all, if the cheeks are permanently molded into the controller, how do you change the batteries? Perhaps if this were a Dualsense controller, which doesn’t have interchangeable batteries, the butt cheeks would be a permanent feature. Alas, that’s not the case.
