Descendant’s first patch will add a highly requested feature

First Descendant developer Nexon has signaled that the game will be getting one of the most requested features since launch.

The free-to-play, looter-focused co-op shooter has progression systems that fuel a deep-rooted grind that, in turn, encourages players to take on repeatable missions on hard mode in order to have a better chance of obtaining materials.

Currently, the only Hard Mode content without matchmaking is Stealth Ops. The Hard Mode content in Stealth Ops offers a higher chance of certain loot, meaning players are more likely to play them on Hard Mode than Normal Mode. But without matchmaking, you’re forced to play Stealth Ops solo on Hard Mode, which isn’t feasible for some players, or at least slows them down.

Nexon has announced that a fix is in the works, which will include “matchmaking for the Public Infiltration Operation (dungeon) in Hard Mode.” The news has certainly been welcomed by fans who have praised the developer for responding quickly to feedback. “Congratulations to the dev team, brilliant decision,” said the Reddit user Sufficient_theory534“This will increase the longevity of the game exponentially.”

While Nexon is adding this highly requested feature, the company has remained silent on a number of controversies that have plagued The First Descendant since its release. For example, the company has yet to address The First Descendant’s ultra-aggressive monetization, or explain the remarkable similarities between the icons used in The First Descendant and Bungie’s rival looter shooter, Destiny.

Still, The First Descendant is attracting players, with a record-breaking 264,860 concurrent players on Steam so far, enough to crack the top five most-played games on Valve’s platform. Microsoft and Sony don’t provide player figures for PlayStation and Xbox. Check out IGN’s site The First Descendant review in progress to find out what we think of the game so far.
