It’s a fact: chores are inevitable. But thankfully, there are plenty of new technologies that make them a little less annoying and stressful, like robot vacuums that get better with every upgrade. If the one you have seems archaic or you’ve never experienced the magic of app-based cleaning, you’ll be happy to know that the robot vacuum of all robot vacuums has arrived in Australia: meet the X40 Ultra.
With its fully automated cleaning station, anti-tangle brush, and smart mapping technology, the X40 Ultra is arguably the coolest robot vacuum on the market, and for good reason. Not only does it clean and vacuum, it does so with immense power, then cleans, fills, and charges itself. It also has a sterilizer and deodorizer, but we’ll get to that in a moment.
Facility
For such an advanced robot vacuum, the ease of setup is a pleasant surprise. While the x40 Ultra comes with a number of accessories (such as extra cleaning pads and a dust bag), there isn’t much setup to do. Simply plug in the dock, fill the water tank, and pour the included cleaning solution into the appropriate compartment. Attach the cleaning pads to the robot, charge it, and you’re ready to go.
Like most luxury tech, the device comes with an app, which you can download via the QR code provided. The app provides you with a very simple step-by-step guide
The application
Speaking of the app, it’s a good one. Unlike most other robot vacuum apps that only let you start and stop cleaning cycles, the Dreamehome app does a LOT of things:
Mapping: The app creates detailed 4-level maps while generating more efficient cleaning routes.
Dirty areas: There is a function that allows the Dreame X40 Ultra to return to the dirtiest areas for a fresh clean. Thankfully, the map-generated app even indicates the “dirt level” using a color code. Those with pets can also opt for the “pet mode” while those who want to target specific areas can use the “spot cleaning” button.
Customize your cleaning area: You can also set no-go zones and virtual walls for more efficient route planning. With a new curtain zone added in the Dreamehome app, the X40 Ultra won’t miss spots under curtains or get stuck on them.
Features
Sure, the vacuum cleaner is expensive, but its features make up for it. Here are some of its most notable features:
Cleaning and mopping:As robot vacuums go, this one is strong: 12,000Pa* of suction removes hair, dirt and debris with ease, while the mop identifies stubborn, sticky stains, scrubbing them off the floor with incredible precision.
Self-cleaning broom and washboard: The base station automatically empties dirt for 75 days, dries mops with warm air, and refills with water and solution. It also cleans the mop and washboard with 70°C hot water to remove stains and odors. You still have to manually remove the dust bin and filter from the robot itself, but it’s quick and easy to do, as is removing the dust bag from the base station and emptying the dirty water tank.
3D Obstacle Avoidance: With an RGB camera and 3D structured light, the X40 Ultra identifies and avoids up to 120 types of objects, such as shoes, charging cables (IYKK!!), and more. With a built-in LED, the robot vacuum cleaner identifies obstacles and cleans efficiently in dark spaces and dark rooms.
Brush: The side brush automatically identifies different nooks and crannies and extends to reach more dirt. Simply choose the appropriate mode via the Dreamehome app, and the vacuum cleaner will reach those right-angled corners as well as clean along curved furniture.
The TriCut brush: While it’s not included in the box, this extra attachment (costing an additional $199.95) is a must-have for any girl with a lot of hair loss or those with pets. The brush cuts and detangles hair with ease, meaning no more pulling or cutting hair from the vacuum.
